The IGF-USA was founded in 2009 and held eight successful events, bringing in a diverse group of stakeholders to discuss some of the most pressing issues facing the Internet. IGF-USA 2017 was no exception, with great panels on new and emerging issues. The IGF-USA is one of the premiere forums for Internet policy discussion in the US and maintains a strong presence in the global Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

At the IGF 2017 in Geneva, the IGF-USA community was very active, including Shane Tews, co-chair,  who joined a collaborative NRI session on disinformation, reporting on the illuminating discussion at IGF-USA 2017.  Shane Tews also represented IGF-USA community joined or organized workshops and NRI sessions.

As we kick off the 2018 planning cycle, we will begin with a 20 minute recap of the IGF.  Attendees will be given up to 2 minutes each to report on their takeaways from the event in Geneva. The floor will be open to all participation, but if you want to ensure you get a chance to speak, please reach out ahead of time.

The remainder of the  kick off meeting will be an opportunity to share new and innovative ideas for shaping this year’s event. Despite all of our successes, there is always room to grow and your ideas will be instrumental in the evolution of the IGF-USA. Like all IGF-USA meetings and activities, this meeting is open to all.
